Taken from Shawn’s e-mail:

The Halo 3 fest was intense as it was the outside team vs the inside team. I was part of the outside team as I would say things like ” outside for life!” Just in the end Inside beat us in 10 games. We won 4 that extra man on their team. But it was fun as it was 3 vs 4. the outside team ended up uniting with inside team and we did some big team battle. We owned on live. We were a force to be reckoned with. As I said in XC many times kick ass and take names that we did. It was a wonderful bliss of bullets and grenades getting chucked left and right as me and my fellow troops charged into battle knowing full heartingly we would come out victorious. We didn’t lose a single match as we won every match. So in the end the conclusion was you mess with the best you die like the rest.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

This was a small Nerdfest and was the third one in a row at J.B.’s house. Only five showed up to play: Jon, Casey, Brian, J.B., and Laurence. One of the games was an all sniping match on that huge island level. Due to the boredom of such a large map, the game was ended at forty. Laurence won. A couple more serious games quickly devolved into iPod blasting and singing along to The Darkness’ “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” and other old classics. I don’t know what it is, but blasting your friends head off to “Karma Chameleon” is very satisfying, and yes, I really do want to hurt you (with my battle rifle.) After the singing session, bowling was in order. W00t!

This Nerdfest began around 3 pm and took place at J.B.’s humble abode. 3 Xboxes were brought, but only two were used. J.B., Brian, Mark, Kintu, Casey, Tony, Gina, Shawn, Cory, Jon and this other dude ended up sowing up to play some good old fashioned Halo 2. Tony and Gina left around 4 to go and catch a 4:30pm showing of “Pirates III: At World’s End” Some Slayer and Team Slayer games were played. . .but the games that generated the most screaming and heart -pounding action were the ones played under the game type called ‘Zombies.’

This gametype is so:

Map: Any
Starting weapon: Pistol
Secondary weapon: Sword

Teams: 2 (Zombies and Humans)

Time Limit: Depending on your preference
Other things: No shield, no radar

The game starts and one player starts as ‘the Zombie.’ The Zombie uses nothing but the sword, while everyone else uses nothing but their pistols. (Grenades and picking up other weapons is prohibited.) There is only one Zombie at the beginning of the game and every else is Human. The Zombie goes around, looking for kills, and when he kills a ‘Human’ player, that player is has to change teams (through the pause menu) and become a Zombie himself. The object of the game is for all the Human players to survive the time limit. As the Humans die, the Zombies continue to multiply, until there is only one Human left running for his life against, say. . .7 or so Zombies, all with swords at the ready. It is mighty fun. This game was played on Lockout, Zanzibar, Terminal and some others.

After a long while of playing Halo, some soccer was played at a local middle school field. After about 40 minutes of discovering how out of shape we all are, we went back to eat and play some more Halo, but the original Halo this time: Halo: Combat Evolved. An all-rockets game on some map I can’t remember the name of and intense team battles on Wizard ensued. A Slayer match on Hang ‘em High ended the Nerdfest for most, although some continued to play on into the night. w00t!

This Nerdfest took place on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at Casey’s House. It began around 1:30 pm. The first game was on Burial Mounds, with three teams. Two teams of two, one team of three.

This next game is seen as the biggest loss in Nerdfest history.

Type: Team Slayer to 50
Map: Coagulation

Red Tea,: Casey, Jonathan, Shawn, and Tony
Blue Team: Mark, Brian, Kintu, and J.B.

The Blue Team took a quick lead, and never lost it. It wasn’t until the Blue team had a considerable amount of kills did the Red Team score ONE kill. Shawn was so dissapointed in the Red Team (the team he was on) he almost considered leaving the game. It was too heartbreaking for him to watch. Attempts of teamwork by the Red Team were tried, but foiled by the Blue Team who just ambushed them and killed them. Shawn and Tony had a short spree in the Warthog before it caught fire and blew up. The game ended up Blue: 50, Red: 18, and is the worst loss in NF history. When asked about the game, Shawn said “It sucked crab dick. . .I mean it. . .” On the contrary, Mark, who’s team won by 32 points, said “I was part of the [ass]kickin’!” A video of this game will soon be up on the website.

The next game that followed was an intense game of Midship. And after that was an equally intense game of Ascension: Random Weapons: No Shield. Videos of both of these matches will appear soon, although the video of Ascension will be be cut short because the tape stopped. Awww.

All in all, it was quite a good Nerdfest with it’s funny moments. W00t!

Nerdfest

25 03 2007

Nerdfest:

The gathering of nerds for the purpose of consuming pizza (or any other fatty junk food), playing Halo, and cussing at each other.

Memorable Moments:

Kyle Sucks
In perhaps the worst display of Halo 2 skills, and most definetely the worst to ever grace the Nerdfest, was a dude who went by the name of Kyle. This guy could not hit water if he fell out of a boat. Seriously, he was that bad at Halo. At the end of one game, he had a 2 percent hit percentage. 2 percent! That means out of every fifty bullets he shot, only one hit someone. He stands to this day as the worst player to ever come to Nerdfest. . .and he hasn’t been to once since. When I think about it. . .I never saw him again at all.

“I don’t wanna”
In an intense battle on the map Burial Mounds, Casey and Roger were losing desperately against Kintu and Shawn. Casey hopped into the Warthog and drove over to Roger’s Arbiter character. “Get in the Warthog” said Casey, however, Roger’s Arbiter kept running with Plasma pistol in hand. “Dude, get in the back.” urged Casey. “I don’t wanna.” replied Roger. “What?” asked Casey. Roger’s neglect to get in the Warthog resulted in the timely death of Casey’s guy, and Roger’s Arbiter was soon killed. They lost that match to Shawn and Kintu. And with teamwork like that, we can see why. Haha
